The West German High Court in Berlin ruled today that Germans who, as judges during the Nazi era, participated in the sentencing of “terrorists,” will not be entitled to receive government pensions.
The ruling developed from a case in which a pension was refused to a person who had served as a judge in the Nazi judiciary and passed a death sentence on a German charged with sabotage within the German army during the war. Officials said the ruling will be mandatory for similar cases in all West German courts in the future.
