Euromart Unit Concludes Hearing Israel Bid for Associate Membership

The Euromart Commission concluded here today three days of talks between the European Economic Community and Israel, concerning Israel’s application for associate membership in the EEC. Israel’s current agreement with the EEC, on a much more limited basis, is to expire June 30.

After members of Israel’s delegation, who had presented their Government’s case earlier, answered questions on details posed by members of the Commission, Amiel Najar chairman of the Israeli group and Ambassador to the EEC, reiterated his country’s view that it consideres associate EEC membership a matter of vital importance. Israel’s delegates spelled out by financial, agricultural and industrial experts, had pointed out that granting their country associate membership would benefit both Israel and the six-member state of the Euromart — France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembour?
