Dr. Michael Weichert, author, theater critic and playwright, died at his home in a Tel Aviv suburb at the age of 77. Born in Galicia, he studied literature and jurisprudence at the University of Lemberg, where he obtained his doctorate in law, then studied the theater under the late Max Reinhardt and other notable directors in Berlin.
In 1938, he emigrated to Palestine, and has lived in present Israel since but participated widely in theatrical activities in many large Jewish centers around the world.
