The first diplomatic reception tendered by West Germany’s Ambassador here was held last night and attended by hundreds of dignitaries led by Premier Levi Eshkol and Knesset Speaker Kaddish Luz. The reception, given by Ambassador Rolf Pauls, was attended also by Cabinet Ministers, army officers and senior government officials.

Practically all political parties, with the exception of the leftist Mapam, the Communists and Agudat Israel, were represented. Some observers here speculated that the Premier’s participation indicated a discreet but effective turning point in Israeli relations with West Germany which they felt were likely to become still closer in the near future.
