In a two-page advertisement tomorrow’s New York Times close to 4,000 American academicians call upon the administration and Congress to maintain firmly the United States’ “commitment to safeguard the integrity, security and survival of Israel and its people.” More than 3,740 college presidents, deans, professors and other faculty members at 128 universities in 23 states signed the statement. The Ad Hoc Committee of American Professors, sponsors of the advertisement, has reported that this list has been increased by more than a thousand academicians in the 48 hours following the first exchange of gun fire at Gaza.
