West Germany’s Foreign Ministry handed a note to the Soviet Ambassador here today, affirming the Federal Republic’s hope that “a peaceful and just solution” to the Middle East crisis will be found soon. The West German note was a reply to one received from the Soviet Government, similar to messages to many other governments, explaining Moscow’s viewpoint regarding the Middle East crisis.

The West German Foreign Office denied today Arab-inspired reports that West Germany had signed an agreement with Israel to provide 160,000,000 marks ($40,000,000) in new credits to Israel. However, Bonn sources said that a new credit agreement was “a matter of timing.”
