A watchman was injured and one building was destroyed in clashes with E1 Fatah terrorists who were only partially successful in their attempts at sabotage and murder in two Beisan Valley communities last night.
According to the Army spokesman, the watchman at Kibbutz Ein Hanatziv was injured by marauders who fired automatic weapons and threw hand grenades when they were surprised near the northern perimeter of the settlement. A search of the kibbutz, carried out immediately afterwards, disclosed high explosives attached to the wall of a building that housed four sleeping families. An Army vehicle patrolling near the kibbutz was fired upon without casualties. Border police later found the footprints of seven men leading toward the Jordan River. The terrorists were apparently surprised by dogs whose barking alerted the watchman.
In another incident, a storehouse for fertilizer at Moshav Tel Yosef, near the banks of the Jordan, was blown up and set afire. The explosion occurred at 10 o’clock last night.
