The Pavilion of Judaism at Expo ’67. which was originally projected by the national religious affairs committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress, will continue functioning as part of the overall plan of the City of Montreal for a permanent exhibition on “Man and His World.” The pavilion was formally presented to the Mayor of Montreal, Jean Drapeau, at a ceremony held at the mayor’s office by Sam Steinberg, president of the Foundation of Judaism, which sponsored the Pavilion of Judaism.
Mayor Drapeau assured that the Pavilion of Judaism would be maintained by the City as close as possible to its operations at Expo ’67, and paid tribute to the “outstanding success” of the pavilion in interpreting the message of Judaism for “Man and His World” to the millions of visitors, Jews and non-Jews, who viewed the Pavilion. The City of Montreal will operate the pavilion and maintain it, and will expect the Foundation of Judaism to guide it in programming.
