The American Jewish Historical Society has acquired an autograph album containing the signatures of Abraham Lincoln, his cabinet and official family, and many members of the United States Congress in 1863-64. The volume reportedly has some 270 signatures and had been presented in 1864 by the bookselling firm of Philip and Solomons of Washington, to women employees of the Treasury Department who secured the signatures. Adolphus S. Solomons, one of the partners in that firm, was active in Jewish life. The album will supplement a collection of Solomons’ papers in the society’s library.
