Dr. Uriel Heyd, former first secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, died here today at the age of 55. He was the head of the Hebrew University’s Institute for Asian and African Studies and was recognized as an expert on Turkish and Middle Eastern culture. He was the author of “Dahir al-‘Umar, Ruler of the Galilee in the 18th Century.”
