Former deputy defense minister Shimon Peres said at a Labor Party meeting at Netanya last night that Israel must build more universities to attract more settlers from the ranks of professionals and Jewish youth in the Western countries. Mr. Peres pointed out that 25 percent of the professors in the United States and 10 percent of its 6 million students are Jews. The only way to bring them to Israel is by building as many universities as possible, he said.
