TEL AVIV (Oct. 1)
Israeli troops on home territory and guarding far-flung demarcation lines from the Golan Heights to the Suez Canal prepared today to observe Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It will be a day of prayer for most of the soldiers and only those required for essential guard duties will remain on duty. Special permission was granted for troop movements between positions in case of emergency or in the likelihood of military action. Minimum water rations will be allowed men on duty. An abridged version of Yom Kippur prayers has been distributed to all troops.
