A delegation representing the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations voiced their alarm about the condition of Polish Jewry In a 70-minute conference yesterday with Undersecretary of State Nicholas deB. Katzenbach. They also discussed the status of Jews elsewhere in Eastern Europe.
A Conference spokesman said that Mr. Katzenbach agreed with their position about the plight of Jews and advised them that the United States Government was pursuing efforts to alleviate it through channels in Warsaw and Washington. “At this stage of history – 25 years after the virtual destruction of Polish Jewry – the world cannot remain silent while Polish authorities attempt to use anti-Semitism as a weapon of terror and intimidation,” a Conference spokesman said.
