French police and security forces surrounded Nice airport yesterday after receiving an anonymous telephone threat that an El Al airliner due to land there would be attacked. The police checked identities and baggage in the terminal before the plane arrived and later inspected the aircraft before it took off for Tel Aviv. No attack materialized.
