Israel’s chief rabbis Itzhak Nissim and Issar Untermann protested today against a rumored plan to make the Western (Wailing) Walla historic site and to include secular bodies in its administration. They also demanded that a ministerial committee on holy places see to it that archaeological excavations at the Wall are ended and that the site be used exclusively for religious services and prayers.
