Prime Minister Golda Meir indicated today that there had been no basic change in Franco-Israeli relations since President Georges Pompidou replaced Gen. Charles de Gaulle. She declared that France would have to indicate that it had improved its attitude towards Israel by releasing the 50 Mirage V jet fighter planes Israel bought and paid for but which have not been delivered because of the embargo imposed by Gen. de Gaulle.
“Relations between nations depend upon their actions,” she said. “We are waiting patiently for a change but as long as our planes, which we have paid for in full, are on French airfields and not ours, there is no change.”
