A spokesman for the International Federation of Airline Pilots Associations told JTA that several countries had offered to sponsor a resolution against hijacking at the current United Nations General Assembly session and that talks were under way to get it high on the Assembly agenda as a matter of “utmost urgency.”

The spokesman said that an overwhelming majority of the affiliated associations favored a 24-hour world-wide strike if all other means of obtaining the release of two Israelis held captive in Damascus failed. Prof. Shlomo Samueloff, 48, a member of the Hadassah Medical School, and Saleh Moualem, 42, a travel agency employe, have been detained by Syria since a TWA airliner was hijacked by Arab commandos and flown to Damascus last month. All the other passengers, including four Israeli women, were released.
