The National Council of Jewish Women sent a telegram to President Nixon asking him to persuade French President Georges Pompidou to deliver to Israel the 50 Mirage jets that were ordered and paid for several months ago. Leaders of the National Council’s groups around the country are in Washington as delegates to the bi-annual Washington Institute. Their telegram urges the President to bring the subject up with Pompidou during his visit next week. Giving the jets to Israel, would, the Council said, “in some measure mitigate the decision to sell 110 Mirage jets to Libya.”
