Dr. Joseph B. Schechtman, World Zionist Leader, Dies at the Age of 79

Dr. Joseph B. Schechtman, president of the United Zionists Revisionists of America and chairman of the World Council of the Zionist Revision Movement, died yesterday at the age of 79. Co-founder with Vladmir Jabotinsky of the Revisionist Zionists, and his official biographer, Dr. Schechtman has for many years been one of the outstanding world Zionist leaders and a leading writer on Zionist affairs. Funeral services for Dr. Schechtman will be held at the Riverside Memorial Chapel on Wednesday. Following these services his body will be flown to Israel, where the Jewish Agency will conduct funeral services. Born in Odessa, Dr. Schechtman was active in Zionist affairs from his early youth. He came to this country in 1941. At the time of his death he was a member of the World Zionist General Council (Actions Committee).
