Left Socialists in the Italian Senate demanded today that the government take immediate steps “to condemn and stop Israeli aggression against the Lebanese people.” Spokesmen for the Liberal factions replied that while they were concerned over the situation in the Middle East, Israel cannot be condemned because it is faced with genocide. The Socialists charged that the “new Israeli aggression imperils world peace” and said the government must be prepared to answer questions on its Mideast policies.
