Israeli Jets Blast Egyptian Positions; Terrorist Grenade Misses Tourist Bus in Hebron

Israel Air Force jets continued to attack Egyptian positions along the Suez Canal intermittently throughout the day. A military spokesman said the targets were artillery positions, fortifications and infantry bunkers. Intermittent air attacks were carried out in the canal zone all day yesterday. All Israeli planes returned safely from all missions. An Israeli soldier, Pvt. Chaim Rosenbaum, 18, of Bat Yam, was killed by Egyptian artillery fire last night. Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in an attack by Egyptian Sukhol bombers yesterday in the central section of the canal zone. The planes were driven off by anti-aircraft fire and caused no damage. Israeli and Egyptian forces exchanged artillery and mortar fire across the canal yesterday. An Egyptian ammunition dump was hit and blew up. A terrorist grenade hurled at a tourist bus near Hebron today missed its mark and exploded harmlessly. An Army spokesman said none of the 10 passengers were hurt but that two shots fired by the guerrillas went wild and wounded two local Arabs. The grenade bounced off the rear of the bus and exploded without causing any damage. Israeli troops and police staged a manhunt for the guerrillas who eluded a dragnet. Katyusha rockets were fired from Jordanian territory at Daganya and Beisan township this morning without causing casualties or damage. Israeli forces returned the fire. Katyusha rockets were fired at the Dead Sea potash plant at Sdom shortly after midnight but caused no casualties or damage. An Arab guerrilla was killed Friday night in an encounter with an Israeli patrol south of the Damiyah bridge. A military spokesman said bazooka shells and small arms were found on the body. There were no Israeli casualties.
