Metullah and Zaryit settlements in Upper Galilee were shelled by mortars from Lebanon early this morning. No casualties or damage was reported. A military spokesman said a number of 60 mm. mortar shells hit Metullah at about 4 a.m. and several more exploded in Zaryit two hours later. Israeli forces returned the fire which came from the direction of the Lebanese border village of Kila. The spokesman said the attack was unexpected because the area has been relatively quiet in recent weeks and Lebanese farmers have resumed cultivation of their land near the border.
