U.S. Senators, Borough President to Participate in Israel-u.s. Trade Ties Parley

Brooklyn Borough President Sebastian Leone and four U.S. Senators will participate in three-day conference beginning tomorrow in Tel Aviv designed to strengthen trade ties between the United States and Israel, it was announced here today by a spokesman for Leone. The conference is being cosponsored by the U. S. Small Business Administration and the Israel Investment and Export Authority. Leone said SBA Administrator, Hilary Sandoval, Jr., explained that the conference, titled, “Doing Business in the United States and Israel” will bring together recognized legal authorities and business representatives of both countries to explore practical application of laws and regulations affecting trade between the two countries. “I welcome this opportunity to visit Israel for the first time,” said Leone, “to observe the development of this great nation and to exchange ideas with their small businessmen. I know many of them are interested in entering into joint ventures with their American counterparts in such areas as furniture, plastics, shoes, chemicals, textiles, electronics, food processing and similar fields.” According to the SBA, the four Senators are Edward J. Gurney, Florida Republican; William B. Saxbe, Ohio Republican; Allan Bible, Nevada Democrat and John Tower, Texas Republican.
