Pope Paul VI received today the new Egyptian Ambassador to the Vatican, Salah El Din Mohamed Wasfy, and expressed his hope for peace in the Middle East. He said he was ready to work with all nations toward that goal. The Pontiff stated he has been following peace efforts from the beginning and hoped that “courage and wisdom will meet harmoniously from both sides to arrive at a satisfactory solution and establish a durable peace.” The Pope said. “Today, more than ever, this seems to many the favorable moment to engage in a decisive way. For our part…we are ready to work tirelessly to further a fruitful agreement between all these parties in full respect for freedom and the legitimate rights of everyone.”
