Matching Funds Pledged to Aid Students at Hebrew University

The American Friends of the Hebrew University has pledged $5 million–to be matched by the Israel government–for a special fund to help culturally deprived young people who want to study at the university.) University president Avraham Harman, who announced the gift, said the money would be used primarily for preparatory studies. He also announced the endowment of a separate but similar fund by the chairman of the institution’s board of governors. Samuel Rothberg, in honor of Rothberg’s 60th birthday.
