Six hours of clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian terrorists took place today in Fatah Land in southern Lebanon. Israeli infantrymen entered the area, under cover of heavy fire, in pursuit of terrorists, at least two of whom were reported killed. The Israelis returned to their own territory late in the afternoon. Military authorities said the maneuver had been carried out in response to signs of increased terrorist activity in the area, especially the guerrillas’ attempts to reorganize following the escape of many of them to Israel during the Jordanian Army’s crackdown on them. Two Israeli soldiers were reported injured. (In Beirut, the Lebanese newspaper Al Kifah said the Lebanese Army was becoming restless over Egypt’s seeming delay in reopening the shooting war with Israel.)
