Five hundred followers of the Neturei Karta movement, which does not recognize the State of Israel because it was not, in their view, established by the Messiah, staged a demonstration against the police last night in the Mea Shearim quarter. The Orthodox demonstrators were protesting police action there Saturday night after religious zealots threw stones at Egged buses for providing some services on the Sabbath. No arrests were made last night. During Saturday night’s clashes the Neturei Karta leader, Rabbi Amram Blau, denounced the police as “Zionist pogromchiks.” Of the 64 persons arrested then. 11 were remanded to Magistrate’s Court and 14 were released on ball after being charged with stone-throwing, interfering with traffic, and attacking policemen and civilians. The other 39, including Americans and Belgians, were released earlier on bond their names were not disclosed.
