Akiva Govrin, a Labor Party MK, categorically denied today that his resignation from the chairmanship of the Labor Alignment’s economic affairs committee was due to a dispute with Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir. Govrin, a Party veteran and former Cabinet minister, told newsmen that he resigned in order to devote his time to compiling a book of his writings and speeches. But Labor Party sources said that Govrin resigned from the committee which he has chaired since its formation five years ago because Sapir ignored it in matters of economic policy-making.
