“We are ready for a separate peace with Israel” stated King Hussein in a televised interview with the correspondent of Danish state television. Ole Sipel, filmed last week in Amman. An extract of the sensational cast containing the King’s statement was released here Friday night and shown during the regular Danish newscast. Hussein’s declaration came in answer to one of Sipel’s questions, after a brief moment of hesitation. Hussein immediately added that such separate peace must be based on “Israel abiding by the Security Council Resolution 242.” The full TV interview is to be shown separately again at a later date. Asked about the possibility of direct negotiations between Jordan and Israel, Hussein gave a reserved answer.
