The Norwegian Conference of Bishops adopted a resolution several days ago protesting the treatment of Jews and other dissenters in the Soviet Union. The Bishop of Oslo told newsmen that “should there be an opportunity during (Soviet) Prime Minister (Alexei) Kosygin’s visit here, we might hand him the document on the persecution of Jews and other minorities in the Soviet Union.” Kosygin is scheduled to arrive here on Dec. 5 after spending three days in Copenhagen. The problem of Soviet Jews is expected to be on the agenda of the talks Kosygin will have with the Prime Ministers of Norway and Denmark. In Copenhagen, Bent Melchior, Chief Rabbi of Denmark, said he hoped he would be allowed to meet with Kosygin to discuss with him the fate of Soviet Jews.
