Acting Premier Yigal Allon says he will not accept the reduced budget proposed for the Ministry of Education and Culture for 1972. Allon, who is Deputy Premier and Minister of Education and Culture told the Managers’ Club here Friday that he will demand $60 million more for education than Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir has recommended. It is inconceivable, he said, that the future of Israel should be jeopardized because insufficient means are allocated to the education of the country’s children. He suggested that other services absorb more of the budget cuts. The Defense Ministry is also balking at budget cuts proposed by Sapir. Referring to the political situation, Allon said Israel has not ruled out an interim agreement with Egypt to reopen the Suez Canal.
