The Jewish Book Council of the National Jewish Welfare Board has called on the American Jewish community to participate in International Book Year, which will be observed throughout 1972 under the sponsorship of UNESCO. Pointing out that strengthening the usefulness of books in the service of education, international understanding and peaceful cooperation is among the objectives of IBY, Dr. Judah Nadich, Jewish Book Council president, said: “If there is any literature that is international in scope, it is Jewish literature. It is, therefore, most appropriate that all Jewish organizations participate in the observance of IBY, stressing the Jewish books written in many languages and in many countries, as well as the contributions of Jews to world literature.”
