A group of 46 Jewish community leaders of Atlanta left JFK International Airport in New York today on a nine- day study tour of Israel under the auspices of the United Jewish Appeal. They comprise the largest single contingent of a group of 350 from all over the United States who will visit Israeli institutions and confer with Israeli leaders in a study of that country’s humanitarian needs.
The Atlanta contingent is headed by Sidney Feldman, 1972 campaign general chairman. It includes Milton Weinstein, Jewish Welfare Federation president; Harvey Jacobson and Jerry Dubrof, campaign vice-chairmen; and Mrs. Harvey Jacobson, general co-chairman of the women’s division. The group will tour immigrant and absorption centers, facilities for the aged and handicapped operated by the Joint Distribution Committee-Malben and other programs supported by the Atlanta Jewish community through the UJA Before returning home Jan. 19, they will be briefed by Israeli officials including Deputy Premier Yigal al Allon, Jewish Agency treasurer Leon Dulzin, and Chief of Staff Gen. David Elazar.
