Sebastian Leone, Brooklyn Borough President, has urged the City Council to support legislation which would prohibit holding elections for anti-poverty boards on the Sabbath. In a letter to Thomas J. Cuite, chairman of the City Council, Leone expressed “condemnation of any system of government or quasi-government election in this city which would require any person to absent himself from the polls because of religious observance.”
