French Jewish financier Claude Lipsky arrived today in Paris after having told the Israeli authorities that he is ready to return of his own free will to France to stand trial on charges of fraudulent company management and embezzlement. Lipsky was taken off the plane by police inspectors and whisked out of the airport without passing through border or customs formalities.
Accompanied by his two French lawyers, George Herisse and Johanes Ambre, he was taken to the Paris Hall of Justice where Magistrate Louis Gondre delivered a 15 days remand order against him. The Magistrate also said that he will start Lipsky’s interrogation in two weeks. Lipsky, who last Sept. sought refuge in Israel, was taken to the model Fleury Monregis Prison where he will be able to confer with his attorneys so as to prepare his defense.
