Three families from the Soviet Union, all benefitting from the US Attorney General’s parole authority, arrived here this afternoon on a plane from Rome, it was reported by United HIAS Service.
The newcomers were: Marton Rozenboum and his two daughters, ages 20 and 24, who were sponsored by a cousin, Martin Willinger of Brooklyn; Peter Gitzis, 30, who is joining his mother, Riva Kloss, in the Bronx; and Jevgen and Eva Weiss and their 6-year-old daughter, Veronika, who will be joining their parents/grandparents. Heinrich Hauer and his wife in Linden. N.J. The new arrivals are from Olezniki, Czernovitz and Ushgorod, respectively.
Gaynor I. Jacobson, executive vice-president of United HIAS Service, explained that in each case admission and resultant family reunion would not have been possible under the existing immigration procedures. He cautioned, however, that regardless of the intended country of destination, a prerequisite for all Jewish emigration from the Soviet Union is a letter of invitation from a relative.
