Shraga Goren-Gorochovski, a member of the first Knesset and a director of the Workers Bank and various Histadrut-owned factories, died last night following a brain hemorrhage at the age of 75. Born in Russia, he settled in Israel In 1921. He organized the first cooperative of building laborers and later became managing director of Solel Boneh, the Histadrut construction cooperative. He served in the Knesset from 1949-51.
An 18-year-old terrorist from the Gaza Strip who said he was “very happy” about the Lydda Airport massacre, was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment by a military court for throwing hand grenades that injured two Israeli soldiers. The prisoner, Mouhammed el Jawi, told his MP escorts that he would welcome an even heavier sentence if he could “get a few more soldiers.”
