Jewish organizations in Belgium are mobilizing public opinion here to remind Soviet Foreign Minister Andrel Gromyko that the issue of Soviet Jews cannot be forgotten when he arrives here on an official visit shortly. Gromyko is presently engaged in diplomatic talks in Holland.
The Coordinating Committee of Belgian Jewish Organizations expressed hope today that the Soviet-Belgian talks will prove fruitful politically for both sides. “But the fate of three million Jews should not be ignored,” it said. “These Soviet Jews see their wish to keep their national identity repressed violently and the calculated emigration policies (of the Soviet government) usually result in families being torn asunder,” the statement said.
