A number of American firms based in Holland have taken stringent security measures in response to recent threats by the Palestinian “Black September” organization that their premises would be bombed. Dutch police reported today that among the firms threatened are Standard Electric, a subsidiary of the American Standard Electric Corporation; Badger, a subsidiary of a US firm of the same name and other companies whose names were not released at this time.
Security measures have been taken by a number of Belgian firms who were likewise threatened by mail or phone in the past few weeks, according to Belgian police sources. Among these are subsidiary divisions of Honeywell, Belgian Standard Electric and the Bank of America.
While police gave out scant information on Palestinian terrorist activities here, they said they did not expect Black September to go into action right away as the organization has “few members in this area.” They discounted any connection between the renewed wave of terrorist threats and the projected opening of a regional headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization in London.
