A B’nai B’rith official has expressed shock over the fact that 30,000 voters cast their ballots last Tuesday in the Democratic Party primary for US Senator for John B. Stoner, an avowed opponent of Blacks and Jews. Stoner, who collected 500 votes in 1948 on a platform urging execution for Jews, was described by Ben Hyman, chairman of the Southeastern regional Anti-Defamation League board, as a man with “intense, vulgar and gutter-level hatred of Blacks and Jews.” He said the 30,000 votes for Stoner “showed us how much raw bigotry still exists in our nation.” Stoner finished fifth and last in the primary.
