COPENHAGEN (Sep. 24)
Police at Copenhagen Airport will carry arms for the first time, according to reports published last week. In a related development, postal authorities have announced increased controls of mail addressed to Israeli institutes, persons and delegations. Until last week’s letter bomb outbreak, no special precautions were taken, a postal authority spokesman said. Permanent guards have been stationed at the Israeli Embassy here and at Israeli institutions.
Abraham Shlonsky, the contemporary Hebrew poet and promoter of Israel’s current cultural and poetic renaissance, was honored in Paris Friday. The evening was organized by the Friends of Mapam, and presided over by the writer M. Litvine.
