Ikrit, the Maronite village near the Lebanese border, is again in the news. But not because of the expelled population and the demonstrations to have them back. This time it’s because important archaeological findings were discovered there recently. Burial caves and various objects were found near the Maronite Church of the village. While one series of caves is dated back to the Tenth Century BCE, another group of caves is more modern–the Third Century. There is a significant difference in shape of the caves of the two groups and more excavations are expected today and tomorrow.
