A record sales total of $4 million in Israel Bonds purchased in honor of Zenon C.R. Hansen, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Mack Trucks, Inc., was announced here last night by Henry J. Nave, president of Mack Trucks, Inc. and general chairman of the National Tribute Dinner.

Philip I. Berman, a member of the National Board of Governors of the Israel Bond Organization and general chairman of its Lehigh Valley Committee, stated that the return was one of the largest ever achieved in the 21-year history of the Israel Bond drive. More than 500 prominent civic, business and religious leaders from various parts of the country attended the event Sunday night to pay tribute to Hansen, who received the Holy City of Peace Award.

Jacob Barmore, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, presented the award and praised Hansen for “his deep understanding of the problems and needs of Israel and its people” and asserted that Israel is profoundly grateful to Hansen for his expressions of friendship to Israel as evidenced by the purchase two weeks ago of $1 million in Israel Bonds by Mack Trucks, Inc.

Accepting the award, Hansen emphasized that Israel is more than a dynamic industrial nation; “It is a country interested in saving people, developing people and helping them build better lives for themselves,” he declared. “That is why we at Mack Trucks are proud to have a share in Israel’s economic development.”
