Rumors that Deputy Premier Yigal Allon had contacts with Jordanian emissaries in London last week spread here today despite a vigorous denial by the Israeli Embassy in London and a disclaimer by Allon’s office here. The rumors stemmed from the fact that Allon left for the United States last Wednesday but arrived there only yesterday. He spent four days incognito in London, where, according to the rumors, he met with representatives of King Hussein. Allon is visiting the U.S. to participate in United Jewish Appeal and Israel Bond Organization functions.

The Embassy in London said today that Allon stopped over on a purely private visit in connection with medical treatment for a member of his family. His office here said that Allon, who is also Minister of Education and Culture, stopped off in London to seek financial backing for a televised university course he wants to establish in Israel. Allon’s office denied that he met anyone from “the other side.”
