Sabotage in Territories Declines

Acts of sabotage in the administered territories have declined over the past two years, it was reported today. During 1970 some 700 terrorist acts were reported in the territories compared to only 45 in 1972. During 1972 several hundred terrorists were released from jail before completing their sentences. The annual per capita income on the west Bank increased last year to IL 4200 compared to IL 1400 in 1967. The respective figures for the Gaza Strip were IL 3600 and IL 1200.

A population exchange between Israel and Egypt was conducted Wednesday by the International Red Cross within the framework of its family reunion program. Forty-nine residents of the Gaza Strip were transferred to Egypt and 72 persons from Egypt crossed the Suez Canal for the Gaza Strip.

President Zalman Shazar and Dr. Eliahu Eilat. Israel’s first Ambassador to the United States. will arrive in Washington Thursday afternoon to attend memorial services Friday for the late President Harry S. Truman. They will be joined at the service by Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Yitzhak Rabin. Also attending the service at the Washington Cathedral will be high-ranking envoys from more than 30 nations and U.S. officials.
