Sephardic Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef has accepted an invitation from Ira Guilden, president of Boys Town Jerusalem, to become president of the institution. Guilden, a New York businessman and president of Israel Bonds, called on the Chief Rabbi at his Jerusalem office.
Boys Town, a religious general school with over 1000 students, hosted Premier Golda Meir at graduation ceremonies at its Institute of Applied Engineering. The institute offers one-year and two-year courses for post-high school students in electronics engineering and industrial engineering.
Guilden announced plans for the growth of Boys Town involving a $10 million Investment to be covered by the government and private contributions over a five-year period. One of the planned projects is a computer center.
