What is virtually an autobiography of Golda Meir was published this week by G. P. Putnam & Sons, just prior to the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit to the United States. Entitled “A Land of Our Own,” and called “an oral autobiography,” the book has been edited by Marie Syrkin, long-time intimate of Mrs. Meir and author of her biography, “Golda Meir: Israel’s Leader.”

The 251-page book is a collection of twenty-six personal statements made by Mrs. Meir in the form of speeches, radio interviews, informal statements, testimony before hearings and courts, as well as published articles. Included are chapters on such subjects as “My Beginnings,” “Why We Need a Jewish State,” “A Solemn Appeal to the Arabs,” and “The Zionist Purpose.”
