Yecheskel Poliarevich, a former prisoner in a Siberian strict regime labor camp now living in Israel and chairman of the Association of Former Prisoners of Zion, is scheduled to arrive this evening at Kennedy Airport from Israel with a petition signed by 17,000 Soviet Jews who recently emigrated to Israel, asking the Senate to adopt the Jackson Amendment.
The petition, sponsored by the Association in conjunction with the Association of Soviet Immigrants in Israel, will be brought to Washington tomorrow by Poliarevich and Yitzhak Heimowitz, an Israeli lawyer who was born in New York and settled in Israel in 1968, and Mikhall Shepsholovich, a Soviet Jewish activist who recently emigrated from the USSR to Israel. The three men will present the petition to Sen. Henry M. Jackson (D.Wash.) and other Congressmen on the steps of the Capitol Building. Poliarevich and Heimowitz are members of the Herut Party in Israel.
