A United Nations spokesman said today that the Jarring peace mission to the Middle East still stands and could be “reactivated” if the parties so agree. He said that the Jarring memoranda to Israel and Egypt of Feb. 1971 which Israel rejected, remains part of the UN record of efforts to settle the Middle East dispute. Ambassador Gunnar V. Jarring arrived at the UN yesterday as the General Assembly began its 28th session. This afternoon Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Yosef Tekoah, met with Secretary General Kurt Waldheim. The meeting was at Tekoah’s request.
