Rep. Edward I. Koch (D.NY) said Saturday that he has written to President Nixon commending him for his “strong and immediate actions you have taken to support Israel” but said he was “distressed over the pressure that our nation is placing on Israel with respect to its encirclement” of the Egyptian 3rd Army. He urged Nixon “not to exact conditions of Israel that will jeopardize her national security or diminish the gains she achieved in a battle that was forced upon her.
